SpaceUnited Founder and President, Troy Dunn, began his deep love of space and science at the age of six when his father, a war vet and former pilot, wanted the family to see a NASA Space Shuttle launch.  It was the summer of 1983  and he was witness to the launch of the shuttle, Challenger. You have to experience a rocket launch to understand the awesomeness of it. As he looked on, Troy participated in that awesomeness and a seed was planted. Almost 30 years later, on July 4th 2012, Troy would help establish the first nonprofit space exploration agency. It’s mission: to improve life through space exploration.
SpaceUnited is a nonprofit humanitarian space agency and their mission is to improve life through space exploration. They have three active projects right now:Â SHIM-1 (Satellite Humanitarian Imagery Mission),HOME-1 (Human Optimized Modular Environments), and ExploraLab (experiment payload carriers for the general public that are launched to the edge-of-space).
